About CC/LP

The Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) Curriculum and Instruction Major with Specialization in Culture, Cognition, and Learning Process (CC/LP) is an online graduate degree program. All coursework is delivered via the D2L course management system. Online courses fill up quickly. If you plan to enroll in an online course, please do so as soon as registration opens.

Admission Requirements / Graduate School

All students should first complete an Application for Admission to the MTSU College of Graduate Studies prior to admission to Curriculum and Instruction Major with Specialization in Culture, Cognition, and Learning Process (CC/LP).  Please consult the MTSU Graduate Catalog for more details.

Admission Requirements / Ed.S. CC/LP Program

Admission to the Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction with  Specialization in Culture, Cognition and the Learning Process requires

  1. One or more of the following:
    • Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited university required;
    • Miller Analogies Test (MAT) / waiver possible / contact Dr. Young;
    • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) / waiver possible / contact Dr. Young; 
  2. An earned Master’s degree from an accredited university or college;
  3. Grade point average (GPA) in previous academic work that reflects potential for success in the Educational Specialist Degree Graduate Program.

NOTE: Students pursuing an Ed.S. degree must be fully admitted to the program prior to the completion of their initial semester of coursework.

Degree Requirements

Once admitted to the program, candidate must

  1. Complete 30 required semester hours as listed in the Ed.S. CC/LP degree program.
  2. Successfully complete the FOED 7610 research class prior to graduation.
  3. At this time, no thesis or final comprehensive exams are required for this degree.
